Sailor U :: Story Setting

Sailor U's official roleplay setting is totally optional. You do not need to participate in the setting to own a Sailor U senshi, and you are free to use your Sailor U senshi anywhere you like in any sort of project or context you want.

The official setting of Sailor U is a hybridization of the anime and manga storylines. SPOILERS FOLLOW if you are not familiar with the end of Sailormoon! Many of the story details have been significantly simplified here to make the setting easier to understand for people not familiar with Sailormoon.

Chaos: the purest force of evil in the universe. Sailor Moon and her friends had fought against it many times until finally Sailor Moon was left standing alone against Chaos at the mouth of the Galaxy Cauldron, the source of life in the universe.

Inside the Cauldron lay the Cosmos Crystal. This crystal was the source of Sailor Crystals, the special star seeds from which planetary guardians derived their powers. Sailor Moon managed to defeat Chaos, reducing it to a single Chaos Seed. The Seed then disappeared into the Cauldron.

The only way to defeat Chaos permanently would be to destroy the entire Cauldron. This would also bring about an end to all life in the universe. Deciding that life was precious and worth fighting for, Sailor Moon decided not to destroy the Cauldron, even though this meant that Chaos would rise again and the war would begin anew.

The power of the Cosmos Crystal resurrected Sailor Moon's friends and all the other senshi from across the universe who had died in the most recent war with Chaos. Sailor Moon and her friends returned to Earth to begin creating Crystal Tokyo and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity for the galaxy.

Before they could do so, Sailor Moon and her guardians were called back to the Galaxy Caudron. The Chaos Seed had affixed itself to the Cosmos Crustal and was corrupting it. If it succeeded, every future Sailor Crystal would be born dark, including Sailor Moon's future daughter.

All of the senshi from across the galaxy joined Sailor Moon inside the Cauldron to try and save the Cosmos Crystal. They sacrificed their own Sailor Crystals in a massive attack on the Chaos Seed, but the corruption had spread too far. The Cosmos Crystal shattered.

This explosion expelled all trace of Chaos from the Cauldron and shattered the Sailor Crystals of all the senshi into hundreds of thousands of pieces. Only a single, pure shard of the Cosmos Crystal remained in the Cauldron.

Without their star seeds, the sailor senshi would die. The Cosmos Guardian, fairy spirit of the Crystal, used her remaining power to save the sailor senshi by replacing their lost Sailor Crystals with regular star seeds, stripping them of their senshi abilities but saving their lives.

In order to restore the senshi, the pieces of their Sailor Crystals needed to heal. The only way to do this was to bind the broken pieces to existing young star seeds in the galaxy. (Because adult star seeds are fully crystallized, only young star seeds could become bonded with a broken crystal piece.) This merge caused these young star seeds to become senshi star seeds and a new generation of senshi was born.

Using the last of her power, the Cosmos Guardian granted Minako Aino, the former Sailor Venus, a set of bracelets which could be used to empower regular star seeds and create Phage Knights. These Knights would be able to help guide and protect the new senshi. Her power spent, the Cosmos Guardian fell into a deep slumber.

Eventually, the broken crystal pieces attached to these young star seeds will heal. Then, the original Sailor Crystals can be restored and returned to their original senshi. Sailor Moon and her guardians will be restored to the galaxy once more.

But Chaos is not defeated yet. The corrupted shards of the Cosmos Crystal which were expelled from the Cauldron remain in orbit around the Cauldron, a dark net of Chaos Shards which threatens the Cauldron still.

It is now up to a new generation of senshi to purify the Chaos Shards, heal the broken Crystals, restore the Sailor Senshi, and save the universe once and for all!
